We need everyone to keep your friend and District Queen, Raychell Ochoa, and her family in your prayers. Raychell Ochoa and friend, Whitney Alderson, were in a very bad accident on Sunday, September 5th, and are currently in the Maricopa Medical Center, ICU Burn Unit in the Phoenix area. The girls were at a rodeo in Southern Arizona when the trailer they were staying in had an explosion, causing burns to both girls. They were air lifted to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix. Raychell sustained second & third degree burns on 45% of her body. She is in stable condition at this time, but the next few days are critical. She is expected to stay at the hospital for an extended amount of time. You can send cards and letters to her at the following addresses, but please hold off on any flowers and gifts at this time as they are not allowed in ICU. Once she is out of ICU and at home, I’m sure she would love flowers and gifts that you may want to send.
The Ochoa Family would like to thank everyone for all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. They will try to keep us posted on her condition as much as possible. Once we know more, we’ll post anything that the Ochoa family may need, but for now please keep her and her family in your prayers.

Raychell, we all know you're a tough cowgirl, hang in there and get well soon!
FYI, if you have not sent your membership paperwork in yet, please send it to Sue Cleveland, see the membership tab for more information. While Renee is out with Raychell, Sue Cleveland has volunteered to helpout as Membership Secretary. Thank you Sue.
Our first rodeo is just around the corner. Reminder, entries close on Wednesday, September 8th. Don't forgot to get your entry signed by the school and get it postmarked by 9/8/10.
Fundraiser for District 8 T-Shirts, Sweatshirts and Hats. If you ordered them at the August BBQ, they will be handed out at the first rodeo. If you didn't order any, remember this is a fundraiser for the district and this is a great way to help raise funds and show your District 8 Spirit. Order forms are here on the website in the Jacket & Vest (Logoware) tab. You can send your order in to the address on the form or give it to the Pulcheon's at the rodeo and your order should be ready at the next rodeo. Order early as we don't know how long this deal will last. Junior High, this isn't just for the High School, it's for District 8 which you are all included.
WELCOME BACK TO ANOTHER GREAT 8 YEAR!
Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork! Make sure and read through everything you receive on August 22nd! We are looking forward to a great rodeo year! We really need sponsors. Feel free to introduce a business friend to High School Rodeo.
REMEMBER AT THE RODEO: know your rulebook, always be in dress code and be ready to rodeo when your name is called.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We need chairpersons for various jobs such as Special Rodeo coordinator and more. Get involved and volunteer!
DEADLINES
Deadlines are important: entry deadlines, raffle ticket deadlines etc. Please inform yourselves and your parents of these dates and make sure you enter on time and also turn in the many important items on time. This makes everything easier for our volunteers and keeps the District business, budget and fun going smoothly!
The 2010-2011 CHSRA District 8 Meet & Greet meeting had a great turnout. Thank you to all that came and brought all the good food and thank you to Tim O'Brien for cooking. Thank you to the Board of Directors for putting this all together.
Update Notice: if you received an entry form at the August 22nd meet and it has an N/A next to the events, please just mark it out and enter the event as we had a mixup on the entry form. The corrected form is also on the website under the Rodeo Entries tab if you would like to print a corrected form. Both forms will be accepted for the rodeo. If you have any questions, please contact Jo Ellen Seick. See Rodeo Entries tab for her contact information. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

District 8 State Team, thanks to all of you. We had 100% participation in the silent auction this time and raised over $700 from District 8 and the State raised over $4500 with all districts and live auction items. This money is used for the state scholarship fund. Also, we found out that the District with the largest amount of silent auction at Challenge of Champions each year gets two additional $250 scholarships awarded at the state finals. We want to be that District in 2011. So, everyone please help when it comes to silent auction time next year.

FYI - Our By Laws have a formula for yearend awards. The formula is; one award for every 4 contestants in each event and High School contestants must enter at least five rodeos, Jr. High contestants must enter at least four rodeos. That being said, the following is the number of awards for each event for this year.
High School - Barrels 6, Poles 6, Breakaway 5, Goats 4, Girls Cutting 2, Boys Cutting 1, Team Roping - Headers 4, Team Roping - Heelers 4, Bulls 1, Steer Wrestling 1, Tie Down 3. All Contestants that compete in at least 5 rodeos will receive a district participation award as well.
Jr. High Awards - Barrels 5, Poles 4, Girls Breakaway 2, Boys Breakaway 1, Girls Goats 3, Boys Goats 1, Bulls 1, Chute Dogging 1, Ribbon Roper 1, Ribbon Runner 1, Team Roping - Header 1, Team Roping - Heeler 1, Tie Down 1 (If he gets a qualified time). All Jr. High Contestants that compete in at least 4 rodeos will receive a district participation award as well. We need to get the board to confirm that.
We need sponsors. Please bring in as many as possible. The sooner the better.
All High School Members are now required to acquire $100 sponsorship for District 8. Please use the 2009-2010 Sponsorship-Donation From above to send to any friends, businesses, grantparent, family member or neighbor. Put your name on it and send to Jodi Treasure, our treasurer, at the January Rodeo.
All Jr. High Members are required to acquire $50 sponsorsorship for District 8. Please use the same 2009-2010 Sponsorship-Donation Form above. We do realize that times are hard! All donations are greatly appreciated regardless of there amount. Every little bit helps.
Clean-up - Please make sure to police your area and remove all trash, manure, shavings, etc. This reflects on High School Rodeo and District 8. Most of our Arenas are donated and we want to be able to come back.
Humane Treatment of Animals - The future of this sport is on all of us to show the general public that rodeo animals are one of the best cared for animals. Be kind to your horse, goat, calf, steer, bull and don't forget the dog in your trailer, on the leach or running free. All training should be done at another facility and not at the rodeo, but remember to also be humane when training.
Reminder - All family and friends helping a contestant in or around the arena must be an associate member. Associate membership is $10, see the Rodeo Secretary at check-in for Associate Membership. Also, associate members must be at least 12 years of age or older.
